#Raising F(r)ame

A weekend build: upload your LinkedIn profile pic, get it back with a rainbow #RAISING frame to signal to VCs you're fundraising.

February 2025. A weekend build for founders in the trenches of fundraising.

the idea

I was in the middle of raising a $10M seed round for thirdLyr when I came across a post by Oliver W. and Jonathan Liu — they'd built a LinkedIn profile frame for a campaign and the timing was perfect. I hacked together my own version over the weekend.

The premise: founders signal they're raising by slapping a rainbow "#RAISING" frame on their LinkedIn profile pic. VCs scroll their feed, see it, know you're in market. Close rounds faster.

what I built

A single-page Next.js app:

  • Upload flow — file input that converts an image to a data URL for preview
  • Canvas overlay — html2canvas composites the profile pic with a rainbow "#RAISING" frame overlay at 3x resolution
  • Download — result stored in session storage, routed to a success page with a one-click PNG download
  • Success message — "May you be the next unicorn 🦄"

Stack: Next.js 14, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, html2canvas. Deployed on Vercel.

The #Raising F(r)ame app

what happened

Posted it on LinkedIn. Got 94 likes and 19 comments — not bad for a weekend hack. A few other founders used it.

It was always meant to be ephemeral. The raise moved on, the frame did its job, and the repo sits archived. Sometimes a tool only needs to live for one season.
