- Presented at the Solana Hacker House during Singapore Token Week. A platform to connect web2 to web3 through education NFTs — giving people a reason to actually use the credentials sitting in their wallets. The seed idea for POAPedu.
the problem
Web3 learning platforms like buildspace and Surge were minting NFTs for course completions. Events were giving out NFTs as attendance proof. In one month alone, 18,000 eduNFTs had been minted.
And then they just... sat there.
"hey check out all of my nfts" "what are the nfts for though" "i was learning stuff from courses and they gave out nfts at the end" "what can you do with them" "i dunnolol"
The credentials were real. The learning was real. The NFTs were worthless because there was no surface to extract value from them.
the solution
Connect your wallet. flaunt.space identifies your eduNFTs and routes you to two things: job recommendations matched to your credentials, and course recommendations for what to learn next.
The flow:
Connect wallet → eduNFTs identified → job recommendations + course recommendations
Job recommendations were powered by a recommender API fed by scraping web3 job portals. Course recommendations were manually curated to start, with a community-based NFT tagging system planned for later — letting organizers allocate skills to the NFTs they give out.
The future flow included universities: partner with institutions to mint traditional academic credentials as Solana NFTs, getting them recognized alongside web3 certs. Web3 companies would pay to list jobs against the credential graph.
the team
Five people with the same face wearing different hats. Jackie (2x founder, 2x exit), Jackerson (PhD, data science), Jack (raised $$$ through an ICO), Jacques (NFT artist and speaker), Tan Yen (Professor at NTU). The slide called it "the dream team" — it was a team of one dressed up five ways for the bit.
what happened
Presented at the Solana Hacker House Singapore during Token Week 2023. No win, no loss — just a demo and a pitch.
The core insight survived: on-chain credentials should do something. That idea later became POAPedu, which placed 2nd out of 725 entries at the EDU Chain Hackathon Semester 1.
