- A mental health journaling app built at the Build for Good hackathon, run by Open Government Products. We won. Then kept going.

the problem
Nearly a third of Singaporeans aged 15 to 35 experience persistent feelings of emptiness, tension, or distress. The infrastructure to support them exists — therapists, counsellors, community care. The gap is in continuity.
Every time someone switches providers, they start over. Every session begins with retelling the story. Progress is hard to track, hard to share, hard to see. Journalling helps, but most people don't know how to go deeper than surface-level venting. There's no bridge between what you feel and what the people helping you need to know.
EBI is that bridge.
what we built
Tell us your story, we'll handle the rest.
EBI is a mental health journaling platform that meets you where you are — voice, chatbot conversation, or classic text — and turns your entries into structured, shareable summaries.

The chatbot doesn't give advice. It asks questions. Guided by AI prompts tuned for emotional exploration, it helps you go deeper than you would alone — surfacing things you might not have thought to say, framing experiences in ways that are easier to revisit.

Every entry feeds into an intelligent summary that extracts what matters: main concerns, coping strategies, triggers, and relevant context — health, financial, social. Mood patterns are tracked automatically. When you're ready to share with a therapist, counsellor, or trusted friend, you share a QR code. You control what they see.
Privacy is structural, not a policy. No third-party data sharing without consent. Zero training guarantees — your entries don't train anyone's model. Mental health-specific guardrails mean EBI guides rather than advises; it knows the line.

build for good
Build for Good is OGP's annual civic hackathon — one month, real problems, citizen teams. Mental health was one of the tracks in 2024.
We won. EBI was one of five teams selected for the accelerator programme that followed — eight weeks, from 12 October to 30 November 2024, with S$20,000 in funding from OGP to take the product to real users. At the accelerator finale, Senior Minister of State Janil Puthucheary named EBI among the projects built for people facing mental health challenges, and The Straits Times covered the launch. The original problem statement is on the Build for Good site.
where it is now
EBI is live at ebi.sg and in beta. The startup is active and recruiting users to test the platform. The hackathon proved the idea. The accelerator proved the demand. Now we're building.
